Lamps FAQs

Can I mix n’ match my lamp shades and lamp base?
That question has a two part answer: typically you can put a new lamp shade on your lamp however, you need to be careful not to mix eras or styles. For example, you don’t want to put a rawhide shade on a Victorian base. Using some common sense is all it takes to make your lamp and lampshade a beautiful part of any room!

How do I measure accurately measure a lampshade I want to replace?
1) Top diameter of the shade.
2) Bottom diameter.
3) Vertical height.

How do I best care for my rawhide lamp shade?
Use the lowest watt bulb possible to avoid over heating the lamp shade. Also, keep away from rain and water of any kind – never clean your rawhide lamp shade (or silk lamp shades) with water or any type of liquid. You may dab a bit of oil on the inside of the lamp shade (do not coat) as a heat buffer.

Which lampshade styles are available as clip-ons?
Any lampshade can be easily converted to a clip-on, but the bulb adapters work best on shades up to 13" in diameter. If used to suspend a shade upside-down, as on a swag, the clips work best with shade heights 9" and under, and on the smaller tiered shades.
