Lava lamps

Lava lamps were invented and became popular during the 1960s. Whereas lava lamps do not offer much illumination, they make great decorations, giving a constantly changing and brightly-colored display. The “show” that lava lamps give can be compared to the hallucinations of popular drugs of the time.

Lava lamps are still popular today, but their home time is still the 1960s and 1970s. The system of lava lamps is very interesting in how it works. Perhaps you are wondering what exactly is inside a lava lamp. Every lava lamp contains a translucent wax, a transparent liquid, and a metallic wire coil. A bulb heats the contents of the lamp. Because the wax of lava lamps is denser than the liquid at room temperature, but less dense than it during slightly warmer conditions, allowing it to flow freely.
